My interest in design started as a love for visual storytelling – a way to simplify complexities and make information universally accessible.
I was lucky to be exposed to the world of design and its possibilities at a very young age through my mom, who studied industrial design and human factors engineering design in the '80s.
What excites me most about design is its ability to be applicable in nearly every context or situation and the power to make something better for someone, in a small or big way. It gives me the freedom to explore both the creative and analytical parts of myself.
Collaboration has been at the heart of all my professional and academic pursuits.
My culturally diverse upbringing combined with my interdisciplinary education at SAIC nurtured my empathetic worldview. Through my career so far, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with people across various industries – with creative directors, strategists, and producers at R/GA designing web based assets for large commercial brands; with consultants, data scientists, and industry experts at McKinsey & Company building hospital staffing systems, among other projects; with product managers and engineers at Spotify helping artists sell merchandise to fans; with rural Indian women at Ohrna, the social enterprise I co-founded to help these women earn a livelihood making sustainable jute products designed for global markets.
An openness to synthesizing different ideas has long been one of my core values. The success of all these endeavors hinged on bringing people with varied perspectives and skill sets together.
The biggest asset I bring to the table is a diverse set of global experiences, both professional and personal.
Personally, my upbringing between the U.S. and India in a multicultural household speaking five languages shaped my worldview in myriad ways and informs my engagement with everyone I encounter. Professionally, my design career has taken me from advertising to consulting to technology to social impact, working across domains on a range of problems that each taught me something new.
Outside of work, you can find me drawing on my iPad, exploring new places on my bicycle, crossing streets to pet puppies, fondly staring at my house plants, or playing whichever sport I can get my hands (and feet) on!
